Dr. Mandana Mostofi is a licensed clinical psychologist who provides psychological evaluations and evidence-based treatment in English and Farsi. She believes that meaningful psychological care begins with understanding the whole person - their experiences, relationships, culture, values, and the circumstances that have shaped their lives. She strives to create a warm, collaborative space where people feel heard and respected, while feeling empowered to better understand themselves and draw on their existing strengths to navigate difficult experiences with greater clarity and confidence.
As a first-generation Iranian American, Dr. Mostofi understands how culture, identity, family, and life experiences shape mental health. She offers culturally responsive care that considers the whole person and adapts treatment to each individual’s needs, values, and goals. Above all, she aims to provide care that is compassionate, and grounded in genuine human connection.
Dr. Mostofi earned her BA in Psychology from UC Berkeley and her MS and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University. Her research has explored trauma, resilience, diversity, and healthy aging. Her doctoral dissertation explored how culture and identity shape successful aging among older Iranian immigrants, bringing together her research interests in diversity and aging.
She completed her doctoral internship at the Central Virginia VA Health Care System with an emphasis on interprofessional geropsychology, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in palliative care at the Palo Alto VA Health Care System. These experiences strengthened her skills in psychological assessment, treatment, and supporting individuals and families facing complex medical and emotional concerns. She also currently works in Behavioral Medicine at Kaiser Permanente, collaborating with primary care providers to support patients’ mental health and overall well-being.
At Northern California NeuroHealth, Dr. Mostofi will offer immigration psychological evaluations in English and Farsi, assessing the psychological impact of trauma, hardship, and other significant life experiences.
